Stills from the Fading Gigolo:
A film about the sexual whims of New Yorkers, secretly dreaming of great love. Murray (Woody Allen) is forced to close his bookstore in Brooklyn, who was devoted to his life. Out of work remains and the seller Fioravanti (John Turturro), who loves to collect at leisure ikebana or two. Plan of action starts in the mind cheerful Murray after his doctor - Dr. charming Parker (Sharon Stone) requests to find her companion for the night. He persuades Fioravanti try their hand at love field. And dubious idea immediately begins to bring a couple of serious income. All I have a meeting with Avigeyl (Vanessa Paradis), orthodox Jewess, grieving for the dead husband two years ago. Fioravanti starts to fall in love, that jeopardizes the growing business ... Every five or six years since the beginning of the 1990s, a wonderful actor John Turturro sits in the director's chair and tells the story of the life of his native city, New York, from time to time on site collecting star ensemble of actors (in "Gigolo" managed to lure most of Woody Allen!), look at that - is a pleasure whatever twists and turns. Nevertheless, it is clear that the narrative outline is always and everywhere advocates a kind of foundation on which with due skill, you can build whatever he wants director. In this sense, "Gigolo", alas, is not devoid of common flaw, when a brief retelling of the story is intriguing and fascinating far more than the film as a whole. Turturro skillfully assembles important components: laugh here, there used to be touched, so there can be sad - plus a well-chosen soundtrack, but does not hold initially given rhythm, which is why brisk pace at the start of a noticeable limp turns closer to the finale. His characters do not last, and the motivation of some actions and causes all legitimate questions. Author's message is not new and ever relevant: behind the mask of a gigolo and Casanova probably hides a vulnerable romantic who dreams of a big and bright love. Well, perhaps. But in this case, the only person who you believe - pimp Murray owes its plausibility great Woody Allen.
